(Fanfic) Discworld "The Meaning of Death"
Chapter 15 "For When The Wedding Bell Tolls"
AKA. The chapter where Rincewind attends the Luggage's wedding. Warning: Do have a comfort potato in hand.
If you wanted to read the intricacy and have a delicate explanation on how two boxes could possibly link their interdimensional space trunk, you might have gotten the wrong book. You see, there are a lot of things that the Discworld does not explain in high detail. What is the fun in explaining the unexplainable? The randomness of reality and magic? The hat that houses the white rabbit during parties? The sleeves that carry pigeons and their multicolored handkerchiefs? No, we wonât go into detail in explaining all of it. After all, it is the mystery that makes fantasy wellâŚfantastic.
It is by a heavy burden that all the guests at the wedding were particularly confused by the whole ordeal. While they were waiting for a blushing bride to enter the scene, they were greeted by the stomping of feet on heels at the altar. Though, a few dozen eyes from the ladies concluded that those heels were of excellent taste.
 âHey-where are YOU going?âÂ
Rincewind clung onto the Luggage as it was trying to slide away. The wizard couldnât believe his luggage was even capable of having cold feet, considering that it has lots to spare.Â
âYouâre embarrassing us both, you know.â he whispered. The box stopped, turning back reluctantly to await its bride, who was halfway through what could only be described as the longest walk down the aisle in wedding history.
âAhem!â The officiant cleared their throat pointedly, âIf we could all kindly be seatedâŚâ
 And so, they did.
 Silence drew.
 And soon, the bells tolled.
...
The wedding, as it happened, was in utter chaos soon after. The little ring bearers with wheels in their tiny feet ran around in utter defiance, protesting the lack of cake. Much worse, is that after the officiant utter the words, You may kiss the bride, the two Luggages stare at one another for it seems like a millennium. For sentient boxes, a âkissâ involved a sort of telepathic communion that excluded all those inconveniently burdened with heartbeats. Though, after a few suggestions and loud coughs from Rincewind, it helped move things along nicely like a swimmer stuck in a jellyfish traffic jam.
And then came the after party.
It was loud, but not because of the newlyweds. The Luggage family had retired to a quiet corner to catch up. No, it was everyone else that after the most bafflingly unique wedding of their lives, celebrated in alleviation as they began to get loose and enjoy the familiarity of a good time.
The same could not be said about Rincewind. As he watched the crowd chattering about, the dancing, and music playing, he could not sit still. His neck itched. Foot tapping impatiently.Â
Something sat wrong in Rincewindâs stomach. It wasnât the catering, although Rincewind was sure that one of those tiny sandwiches had been plotting against him. No, it was the sheer perfection of the moment that sat uneasily with him. Everything wasâŚtooâŚÂ peaceful .
Rincewind continued to observe the crowd, golden light shining brightly for those bold enough to spread their happiness wide. The wizard however, shifted his body to follow the cool blue solitude of the hallway.
âRincewind?â Two-Flower turned, just in time to catch a glimpse of the wizard slipping through the large door.
The emperor, mid-conversation with a cluster of guests, offered hasty apologies before hurrying after his friend.
âŚ
His footsteps tapped in the cold marble of the night.
They echoed across the hall as the moon observed his lonely pace as the fireworks danced behind. The walls reflected the passerby wizard as Rincewind stopped to look at his reflection on the wall. The tailors did wonders with his outfit. They were able to retain his usual wizard robes, but made with that rich silk texture of their unique materials. His stars on the fabric never looked quite as brightful as this. And his hat has never been this pointy. Somehow, the tailors thought the extra Z in âWizzardâ was intentional, and so, the extra letter got a fancier embroidery stitched around it.
For the first time in his life, Rincewind looked, without question, like a proper wizard. Possibly the most wizardly wizard in existence.
And it felt wrong.
SoâŚso wrong.
âYou knowâŚâ A calming voice resonated from behind, âThe offer still standsâŚâ
The wizard turned around, and met the concerning eyes of Two-Flower. He walked up to meet the wizard, their bodies silhouetted against a vast, unglazed window.
âWhat offer?â Rincewind asked cautiously.
The emperor thought his words carefully. He rested his elbows on the windowsill and looked out at the city.
âBecoming the Royal Wizard here.â
The wizardâs shoulders quickly jumped in alarm and Two-Flower could easily see his friend was ready to scatter.Â
âI know Iâm not an amazing ruler like Cohen, thatâs for sureâŚâ Two-Flower said hurriedly and shook his hands, âAnd it might not feel like home, but Iâve been trying to implement some of that Ankh-Morpork culture around and I-â
The letters. Rincewind concluded. How many things have I missed? Oh, godsâŚwhat else did he share with me?
This feelingâŚit felt like little ice daggers stabbing across his whole spine!
 âI canât.â He muttered.Â
Two-Flowerâs glasses glinted in the moonlight, âWhy not?â
âCome on, Two-Flower!â Rincewind exclaimed, throwing his arms up, âYou know I canât. And donât you lie-I know that you know that I canât do magic. I canât be a Royal Wizard if Iâm not pulling fire out of my hand!â
It shamed the wizard to admit it, but yelling all of this out felt alleviating. However, he didnât expect Two-Flower to keep that same calming demeanor.Â
âYouâre the GREAT WIZZARD, remember?â He said at last.
âBut, Iâm not.â Rincewind slumped his shoulders, âWhy do you keep insisting Iâm this GREAT WIZZARD if you know Iâm not?â
âCause you are great.â Two-Flower simply replied, âYouâre a kind of wizard, Rincewind.â
âOf what kind?â
 âMy friend.â
âThatâs not-You canât just-â Rincewind huffed in defeat, âWell, thatâs not fair.âÂ
Two-Flower chuckled, and despite himself, Rincewind joined in.
Fireworks painted the sky in colorful patterns as the lonely halls felt a little bit warmer.
Two-Flower turned his back from the window and observed the paintings of the hero Cohen. The paintings depicted Cohen in his many roles: barbarian, hero, and ruler of the city. Yet, his expression never changed. This was because Cohen couldnât stay still long enough for the painters, so they simply altered his outfits, maintaining the same powerful, looming pose.
âYou know, Cohen told me something.â Two-Flower began contemplating.Â
âI was his Great Vizier at the time, after all, but- It felt strange.â He continued, âI read all about him. All the glory and his heroic ventures, but there was this one time I saw himâŚdifferent.â
âWhat do you mean?â Rincewind leaned with interest.
Two-Flower recalled the memory. He was summoned to Cohenâs chambers, to meet alone. There, in the balcony, wasnât the heroic and powerful warrior, but an aged man, looking at the people below him with regrets in his eyes. âYou see that?â Cohen pointed at the city, âAll these people, dancing! And why-why is nothing getting in these days? Iâm sure I ordered for the walls to open, didnât I?â
âOh, you did!â Said Two-Flower, the Grand Vizier, âNow we can have full access to even more trading! Isnât that wonderful?â
Cohen didnât say anything back. He muttered a few simple words that Two-Flower didnât catch. And so, silence drew, the emperor watching life continue on without him.
âYou recall Cohen telling you something, but not remember what he said?â Rincewind raised an eyebrow.
âI think I do now.â Two-Flower replied, âHe told me, âdanger is not what it was like beforeâ â.Â
âHowâŚâ Rincewind blinked slowly, âHow horrible?â
âI know!â Two-Flower widened his eyes, âWhat kind of life would you have if you canât take one step forwards and NOT get sent to an epic quest?âÂ
 â...a boring one?â Rincewind ventured.
âHah! Exactly!â Said Two-Flower, âAnd Cohen said it wasnât like that anymore. I wonder what changed?â
Rincewind pondered and looked over the view of the night. He glanced at the Clacks Tower from before and his mind clicked in response.
 âCommunication.â He whispered.
 âHuh?â
âThatâs what changed for poor Cohen.â Rincewind explained, âIn the olden days you see a monster garble and a-a mythic I donât know⌠a magic hammer on a rock and you have but two choices, donât you? Run or attack!â
As he caught a glint in Rincewindâs eyes, Two-Flower let his friend continue on. His mind was now working like a wonderful set of clockworks.
âBut words. Oh, words. Thatâs where the real magic lies.â Rincewind closed his eyes in bliss, âThey hold some power in them. They just need to be pushed in the right directions so it can turn into a conversation! And isnât that wonderful?â
Rincewind turned around, his mind still wandering on,
âAfter that, well, the fellow won't run or attack, he'll just ask, âNice weather today, isn't it?â That's what changed. Gone are days of half-naked barbaric brutes charging into blindful caves, swords stuck in magical stones, and unexpected kings. Gears are turning the cobwebs of the medieval. And the world is nowâŚsorta making sense. In its own wacky, nonsensicalâŚsense.â
âRincewindâŚâ Two-Flower finally replied, âYouâre glowing.â
âOh gods, did someone set my hat on fire again?â
âNo,â Two-Flower giggled, âI mean, I havenât seen you this passionate about something before.â
 Rincewind froze.Â
Why hasnât he realized this before?Â
 Of courseâŚwords. Communication.Â
From the deepness of his soul, Rincewind knew he couldnât do magic. He knows heâs still a wizard at heart, but no one believed him. So when he was casted out of the University in his earlier years, he dedicated himself to learning languages.
He has forgotten how much he enjoyed that knowledge of his. It is the one thing he was good at. The one thing that in some ways, makes him a wizard.Â
After allâŚwords contain a little bit of magic of their ownâŚ
Rincewind quickly clutched onto Two-Flowerâs sleeve. His eyes shocked as he gazed at the city from above.
 âRincewind, you okay?âÂ
âI-I donât know what is happening.â The wizardâs voice trembled as he clutched at his chest, âIâŚthink Iâm having a stroke of some kindâŚ?â
âI canât put it into words.â Rincewind chuckled nervously, â Ironic, isnât it?â
âB-Breath, Rincewind!â Pleaded his friend, âIâll get someone-â
âNo no, wait-stay.â Rincewind patted Two-Flowerâs arm in reassurance, âUhâŚoh Gods. Itâs a feeling. Itâs-Itâs likeâŚyou know that feeling when you get like a warm cloth around you? As if, thereâs like tiny little stars popping out and spreading both sides of your face? UhhhhâŚâ
âYou mean âŚhappiness ?â
âOh no.â Rincewindâs face turned pale, âIâm happy!â
âRincewind, where are you going?!â Cried Two-Flower as the wizard ran.
âI canât be anywhere near here!â Exclaimed Rincewind, âDonât you see? I canât be happy! Itâs not possible!â
âRincewind!â
The wizard rushed past Two-Flower. Then the guards, and then everyone else. Everything went in a flash as his body naturally seeked refuge below one of the tables at the party and hid inside the cloth.Â
He lifted up his shaken hand to inspect the contents of the above and grabbed a potato. He quickly stuffed it in his pocket as his body cradled in place.Â
Guess weâre running away again, are we?
âWho-Who said that?â Rincewind whispered.
Me.
âOh, thatâs right. I forgot about you-or well, me.â
âI havenât heard from myself in years!â Rincewind replied, âBut I guess we-â
âWere always busy running,â said both Rincewind and his inner voice, yeah.
âSo, um-What kind of thing are we discussing with myself this time?â Asked Rincewind as he held the potato closely to his chest.
We were happy there, werenât we? Why were we running? We were hardly in any danger there.
âYou KNOW why,â Said Rincewind, âWhen something good like that happens, something of equal value is going to negate that happiness. Itâs like uhâŚwhatâs that word?âÂ
Donât look at me, Iâm you!
 âRincewind? Where are you?â
The wizard peeked from behind the cloth. He saw Two-Flower asking the guests of his whereabouts.
Look at him. Heâs a ruler now. Oh, that puppy-eyed fool will have a kingdom of dreams. Heâs happy here. But if the Gods sees me now, theyâll use me to test that dream. Fate and the other Gods would want a disaster to happen here, at this very moment now and hurt the only friend in existence that believes in me. I canât do that to himâŚ
âSoâŚwhat is it that I want?â Rincewind genuinely asked within himself.
âRincewind!â Two-Flower exclaimed as he lifted the cloth above them, âThere you ar-â
Two-Flower paused and immediately closed the tablecloth above them and kneeled closed, âYouâre crying.â
âIâŚI canât be here.â Rincewind ducked his head between his knees, âThere's a reason why I didnât visit you.â
âRincewind, I-â
âWherever I step, it always turns into a chain of chaos and destruction! Iâm always this-this sort of favorite chess piece of the Gods and they use me as their fool! And I donât want that to happen to you. Thatâs why I didnât come to visit you sooner.â
Two-Flower leaned in and held a hand to the wizardâs shoulder. He stood still, waiting for Rincewind to continue at his own pace.
âButâŚthatâs also a lie.â The wizard confessed, âI didnât want to see you. IâŚwanted you to forget about me cause-letâs face itâŚwith my life being a ticking disaster and you being an emperor, I didnât want to drag you down with me. I didnât want toâŚdisappoint you from that image you have of me.â
Rincewind sniffed and rubbed his eyes with his sleeves.
âCome.â Two-Flower gently led the wizard out of the table and looked around the crowd. He let them back out into the hallway, away from any curious eyes. The doors from Rincewindâs chamber closed as he tiredly sat on his bed.
âYou SHOULD have forgotten me.â Rincewind whispered quietly, âNot make a book about me and build a freaking statue!â
âIs that what this is all about?â Asked Two-Flower, âI tried to tell the sculptors about the nose, but he said it added character and-â
âThatâs not what I meant, Two-Flower.â Rincewind sighed.
 Suddenly, a light shined.Â
It was quick, but Rincewind stared at the view of the city and caught the light again. OneâŚno-TwoâŚthen three.
The light was coming from the Clank Tower outside the city gates. The ominous light projected the same pattern over and over again.
âThatâs strange,â Two-Flower remarked, âWe never have messages this late at night.â
âI donât think itâs a messageâŚâ Rincewind leaned at the edge of the balcony. He noticed something from afar.
A smoke trail.
Something was coming.
And getting closer to the city.
âOh no,â Rincewind whispered, backing away as fear gripped him back. âIt started."

death
no tyrant, dictator or evil being,
could ever come as close,
to being as cruel and manipulative as
death
death, a surreal daydream
until one day it strikes you in the face
and you're left cold and numb
with your body drained of tears that you can cry no longer
and all you can do is reminisce
and merely remember
them.
with the knowledge that one day
you will forget their voice
you will forget their face
you will forget their laugh
you will forget their tears
you will forget the silly habits they used to do
you will forget your meaningless arguments
the memories will live on
inside your heart
inside your head
inside your mind
inside your soul
but it never truly goes away
the bitter cold emptiness
merely a gaping wound slowly being sewn up
you can only remember their voice through videos
and audio tapes
you'll never get to walk down the stairs and see them cooking breakfast again
you'll never feel the comfort of their hug
you'll never be twirled and picked up by him
you'll never be able to go through birthdays or christmas the same again
you'll never be able to look at their room normally again
you'll never be able to feel truly safe
you'll fear for your children and friends
and pray to god that they be kept safe
because that my friends,
is the doing and unravelling,
of
death.
to zara.
i want you to know that even though he's gone, he raised a fucking amazing, beautiful, talented and gorgeous daughter. you're so fucking strong. he was too good for this world.
i love you <3

i accidentally napped and had a dream (nightmare?) where a new update for stardew valley released where everything was the same except on a random day in year 3 Evelyn would just straight up die. There was a whole cutscene that started in her house where she collapsed, and then transitioned over to the hospital where Harvey gave George and Alex the worst news of their lives. However, they got to speak to her where she said something along the lines of "Yoba will protect me, and I am sure he will let me watch over you."
Alex and George would not talk to the player for more than a few words for a full season after this event. George would spend most of his time in the bedroom, so if you had less than 2 hearts with him, you could barely ever speak to him.
And Alex... oh my god, poor Alex. If you were married to him during this event, he just stayed in bed all day. Otherwise, if single, he would just stand on the beach most of the time, staring off into the ocean. If you tried to interact with him, it would just say "Alex is grieving... Better leave him be."
There was also other NPC dialogue like mayor Lewis saying "I haven't seen the community in this state of mourning since your grandfather passed..."
there was also a glitch where you could make Evelyn live forever and there were entire guides for the "immortal Evelyn glitch" that got patched out in the next update. If you tried to perform the glitch after the patch, mr. Qi would tell you that "hey, it happens to all of us. We can't prevent it, and neither can you, no matter how hard you try."

Bro, my unyielding loyalty towards you is totally normal and healthy, I swear. It's just that it's definitely my duty to rip out your enemies throats with my bare teeth. You are the love of my life and I am your most valuable tool. Each night, I fantasize about dying in your arms, covered in blood, and then I close my eyes one final time, satisfied because I can feel your fingers on my face as I take my last breath. (Discworld Fanfic) The Meaning of Death-Chapter 13, "A Rincewind Piece"
(AKA The Chapter Where Rincewind Meets Two-Flower again) Rincewind woke to the most comfiest bed cell heâs ever known. Well, of course he was bound to end up in a jail cell once in every adventure, right? Itâs practically a Rincewind tradition! Why, the last time he was in the Agatean Empire, he pretty much was in jail!
Rincewind swung his legs over the side of the bed, already anticipating his feet to meet the chill of hard stone beneath him. He was surprised to see his reflection instead. Marble flooring. WellâŚthis is a very nice cell indeed! And yet- he has never been in a cell with a large balcony view before.
A polite knock was heard from the door- The door?
Rincewind flinched and hid himself inside the plush and luxurious covers. He found himself surprisingly looking for Death. But as he could not find him, Rincewind couldnât help but feel saddened with the lack of skulls in the room.Â
Another polite knock was heard again, this time a bit louder.
âC-coming! I-I guess!â The wizard called out.Â
Rincewind also realized that his clothing had been swapped for some silk pajamas. And right next to him, sat the comfiest and cutest fuzzy slippers to wear. His captives were even generous enough to leave his wizard hat on the desk lamp!
A mix of loudness and politeness pounded the door.Â
Rincewind, with the pink slippers and his silk robe, dashed towards the door handle. And just as he was about to open it up, his visitor flung the door and hit the wizardâs forehead.
âOh, Rincewind!â Exclaimed the visitor, âIâm so sorry!â
Rincewind closed his eyes as he withered in pain. Invisible my ass! Rincewind thought, Maybe bad luck is really just part of me!
The figure layed a gentle hand on Rincewind, who was crouching on the floor. The voice asked, âAre you alright, friend?â
As the pain subsided, Rincewind had his eyes wide open, and felt like his chest had been struck by something unseen.
âTwo-Flower?!â He managed to yell.
Rincewindâs visitor chuckled in delight. The wizard was already fighting a war of questions inside his own head. His response ended up being a combination of, âHowâŚwhy are ya- When didâŚumâŚhi.â
He extended a hand towards Two-Flower as the other raised an eyebrow and stared at the hand.Â
âAh-ha!â He beamed.
Two-Flower reached into his pocket and pressed a gold coin into Rincewindâs hand.
âWhat, no!â Rincewind sputtered, thrusting the coin back.
âSorry,â Two-flower giggled, âForce of habit.â
Oh, how much he missed him.
âI like the new look, Rincewind!â Two-Flower exclaimed as he studied him from head to toe, âI thought the length of wizard beards was a show of status or something.â
âWizard hair is a potent ingredient in potions and enchantments, you see.â Rincewind immediately slapped his own mouth. Here he was, automatically lying just to make a good impression to his ex-tourist friend. Even though he wasnât here for praise nor money, some habits of his stayed dormant. But by the Gods âŚseeing that gleam of curiosity magnified by those big round glasses of his, has always taken claim to Rincewindâs worst nature.
âThis is a really great guest room, I should say!â Rincewind blurted, attempting to change the subject, âVery umâŚspacious and luxurious too!â
âItâs one of mine, actually.â Two-flower responded bashfully, âThereâs other rooms, but this one has a really great view of the city!â
âWatch out,â Rincewind chuckled, âWith a room this big, people might confuse you for the emperor!â
Dead silence. Two-flower looked around and coughed awkwardly, âWell, actually-â
âNo.â Rincewindâs eyes expanded in shock, âBut-But youâre not even wearing a crown!â
Two-flower opened up his sleeves as he presented something on his palm, âIt is a really cute hat, Rincewind! Itâs a little on the small size but-â
âThatâs the crown?â The wizard asked, âBut itâs not made of gold!â
âWhy should it be gold?â Two-Flower tilted his head, âWonât it get awfully heavy wearing it all day?â
âWell-yeah, butâŚnevermind.â Rincewind dismissed it with his hands, âI forgot where I was.â
Two-Flower smiled and looked down at his Emperor crown and lifted it up. Rincewind flinched at it. Two-Flower took it down, and Rincewindâs shoulder relaxed again. Took it up, and Rincewind flinched a second time.Â
Itâs not going to explode, Rincewind,â Twoflower assured him, watching as Rincewindâs expression wobbled between delight and dread, like a deer caught in a high-stakes game of hopscotch.
The emperor, now adored with his hat of authority, extended his arms widely.
âAw, come on.â Two-Flower smiled, âGive me one big hug, dear friend!â
âTwo-Flower, you know Iâm not a hug perso-AH!â Rincewind was met with a strong embrace, feet dangling in the air. His mind went to overdrive as he was beginning to feel multiple reactions. First he was afraid, then a small amount of happiness managed to squeeze out a little bit before dreadness and panic took over. Only, his body made no move to squirm, which left Rincewind deeply disturbed.
âOh!â Two-Flower released the wizard as he walked over the curtains that hid the window, âThereâs something you got to see!â
âI-I think I had enough excitement for today, Two-Flower.â Said the wizard weakly.
âAlright, I understand.â responded Two-Flower as he swayed his body left and right.Â
The wizard groaned as he saw his friend obviously feeling disappointed and doing a terrible job at hiding it. So Rincewind admitted defeat and walked up next to Two-Flower, âFine.â
Two-flower squealed in delight as he dramatically grabbed the curtains and waited a few seconds before revealing its content. The light of the city blasted across the room as Rincewind shielded his eyes.Â
âAmazing, isnât it?â
Rincewind rubbed his eyes as he finally settled his view and was in shock. âNoâŚâ
The statue he saw at the plaza stood in the center of the balconyâs view in plain sight. He could now see it clearly with all the detail. There, in gold, stood a brave and noble wizard as he was ready to shoot a spell onwards onto the sky. And what was worse, it wore a hat, with the name WIZZARD on top of it.
âWell?â Asked the Emperor in anticipation.
âIâŚâ Rincewind muttered, âI canât have a statue!â
Rincewind yanked the curtains and hid the room in darkness again. He stomped towards the door.
âWhy not?â Two-Flower asked, blocking the exit.
âCause only HEROES get statues THAT BIG!â Rincewind cried as he added, âAND ON THE CITY!â
âBut you are!â Two-Flower replied, âYouâre the Great Wizzard, remember?â
Two-flower smiled in sweet nostalgia. Which wasnât the same for Rincewind, âTwo-Flower.â
The other looked back and noticed that Rincewind had stopped shaking and was now firmly standing on the ground, staring where the curtains laid, âYou know Iâm not that great of a wizard.â
Two-Flower composed his own excitement and met the wizard with the same level of tone, âYouâre a kind of wizard, Rincewind.â He said quietly and the gentlest he could get, â Youâre my best friend.â
âIâŚâ Rincewind hesitated and avoided to meet his eyes. His feet weren't shaking, and that troubled him deeply. He was ready to run. And yet, his body didnât comply, âI need to lie down now.â
âSure, no problem buddy.â Assured Two-Flower, âIâll have someone send you something to eat.â
Two-Flower leaned at the half-opened door, âAny request?â
The wizard thought for a second and just shrugged, âSurprise me.â
âI think I already did!â cheered Two-flower as he closed the door behind him.
The wizard couldnât help but let out a chuckle, as he slumped his body down on the feathered mattress. He took a big breath as he stared at the small light gap coming from the curtains.
âWhat am I doing?â The wizard muttered.
Gods how long has this been? That positiveness is just so bright. Rincewind hid within the silk sheets and buried himself. A disaster is bound to happen. Iâve never had this much attention and praise in one day. A statue? Really? The guys in the University would have a laugh! Yes, they do have statues of wizards in the University. But thatâs because a Wizard statue is made on wizard grounds only. When a statue is made by the city, wellâŚit becomes the symbol of the city. That wizard is not seen as a wizard any more.
All these adventures, all these surviving and stuffâŚit really just seemed that Rincewind got into a hero-shaped box, only problem is he is a Rincewind piece. Which could actually explain his whole life, surprisingly.Â
He sat up and looked around, searching for a distraction. Above his bed hung a large portrait of Cohen the Barbarian, looming heroically in the otherwise still room. Not much has been said about Cohenâs last appearance. But, Rincewind was there, wasnât he?And still, he couldnât decide if Cohen was dead or just rode off into space for more adventures.Â
He was thereâŚright?Â
Well, one thing was sure for Rincewind-he better not drag Twoflower with him. For how much the guy would enjoy another 6 month adventure, Rincewind didnât have the heart for it. An emperor. That guy.Â
Rincewind let out a heavy sigh. His days had always been full of surprises, but this particular adventure had officially claimed first place. As he lay there, he watched a narrow beam of sunlight slip through the gap in the curtains, casting a warm line across the room. Outside, he could hear the faint, joyous sounds of the city.
The second biggest surprise of all, though, was that a little voice inside him whispered five simple, magical words:
Letâs stay for a while.
And for once in his life, the wizardâŚ
âŚagreed.

Bruce owes Danny money. He does Not want to pay up.
So! Danny had to run away from Amity Park when his parents discovered his Powers. But every time he tried to stay in a single place in America, they somehow managed to find him.
Turns out, they were working with the GIW to track him using the GIW's resources and the Fenton's Genius to find him everywhere he ran to. Eventually, Danny figured he had had enough and ran to Europe where the GIW had no Jurisdiction.
After wandering for a while, Danny was found and recruited by the League of Assasins. He was powerful, skilled, and connected to the Lazarus Pits, so they approached him with a job offer.
They would hide him from the Fentons, who had began to search for him in Europe independently, and in return he would work for them as an Assasin.
Considering his situation, Danny agreed.
He began training to be an Assasin, supplementing his Ghost Abilities with the abilities of an Assasin to become even more Stealthy.
While training under the League, Danny met another recruit simply known as Bruce. They trained together for years, even going on a few missions together gathering intel, and using disguises to hid in plain sight.
On one of these missions, Danny lent Bruce some money with the promise to get paid back when they returned to the League. That same night, Bruce left the League of Assasins and never came back.
...
Bruce was sitting in the Batcave going over a case with Tim, Jason was off to the side cleaning his Guns, and Dick and Cass were holding an acrobatics competition in their Obstacle Course, with Damien, Steph, and Duke cheering them on.
Suddenly an Eldritch Emerald Light sprang to life in the center of the Batcave, and everybody dropped what they were doing and sprang to action.
Slowly, a glowing green figure emerged from the Light. He appeared Eldritch in Nature, as if he existed in multiple layers of reality at once and looking at him gave them minor headaches. Then, the figure spoke up.
"BRUCE. ITS BEEN 15 YEARS. YOU STILL OWE ME 16 DOLLARS."
Recognizing Danny, Bruce took a moment to compose himself before responding.
"Fuck Off."

my favorite historical thing about actual pirates is most of them were really young guys who died between the ages of 17 and 24 so one of the reasons blackbeard is so famous three hundred years later is because he was, like, thirty-two and still kicking which made him seem really wise and shit-together by comparison. it's like when you're a 28 year old woman and get tumblr asks from college freshman that say "oh my god you don't look like a withered corpse at all"
